Barcelona imposing cruise ship pollution tax
Barcelona is expected to slap cruise lines with an extra tax to combat pollution. Catalonia minister for climate action, Teresa Jorda said a new fee will be announced ‘in the coming weeks.’
It comprises a daily fee of €1.75 per guest for calls under twelve hours and €3 for longer. Revenue will help mitigate the effects of pollution.
The mayor of Barcelona also recently called for a committee to discuss limiting the number of cruise ships.
